Horror Story about Twitter and Interviewing

A recent exchange between a prospective Cisco hire and a Cisco channel partner on the microblog Twitter shows the dangers of a poorly managed online presence.

The first tweet (post) reads:

Cisco just offered me a job! Now I have to weigh the utility of a fatty paycheck against the daily commute to San Jose and hating the wor

The tweet was seen by Tim Levad, a channel partner advocate for Cisco, who tweeted back:

@theconnor Who is the hiring manager. I'm sure they would love to know that you will hate the work. We here at Cisco are versed in the web.



This job-endangering faux pas, like many others, has been immortalized with its own website. Remember the internet is a great method express yourself, but be smart and selective about what you choose to broadcast and what you keep private between close friends.
